Why didn't Crossair order the 717 instead of the ER-190. If i recall correctly both seat about the same amount of passengers. Crossair has placed a firm order for 60 ERJ-190 why didnt Boeing get this sizeable order.

Thanks

Crossair has ordered the ERJ 135, 145 and 170. Together with the 190 they have an aircraft family witch is more economic and they perhaps got the better price. I think that's the reason why they didn't order the B 717.

You know how people are always saying that the airlines favour Airbus because of the cockpit and cabin commonality, well the same rule applies here. I'm pretty sure that because of the ERJ-145 is the max for the a/c design, the ERJ-170/190 are totally different aeroplanes on the exterior, and hence cannot be common fleet-wide, BUT the pilots can fly the ERJ-135/145, and others can fly the ERJ-170/190, which offers more commonality to the fleet than the 717 would.

I believe that the cabin is common so only one flight attendant training session is necessary.

I thought the EMB-170/190 will be 2+2 as opposed to the 1+2 on the -135/145. How would this make it a common cabin? I think these are completely different aircraft. Different engines, cockpit, fuselage, etc. I would imagine if they had more in common to their little cousins, they would get it to market sooner.
