To all aviation enthousiast, please do not forget in what a great time we are living. I know some of you have got some problems with the succes of Airbus at this moment, but just be aware of what the strenght of the European consortium means to us: strong competition between Boeing and Airbus, which results in some great aircraft. The next coming years will be super. We will see a lot of new aircraft or variants fly. We will see the B737-900 for the first time, the 737NG's with winglets, we will see an even greater 777 in the two new variants. Probably, Boeing will launch a new sort of 747, although it would not look very different from the current ones. Who knows we are lucky and Boeing decides to launch new B717 variants.
Airbus is going to show us the A340-500 and -600. They will bring the A318 in service and the A330-100 which will be the basis of even more variants to replace the A300/A310. And who knows we will look up to the sky within this and five years to see a superb aircraft fly, the A3XX.
What I just wanted to make clear is that the succes of Airbus and Boeing gives us the chance to see a lot more different aircraft. Evenmore, when we think of all the new regional jets that will take-off within the next five years. So to all of you, be happy you live now as an aviation enthousiast because these are very very interesting times.
Take care
sndp

Hi all

Yes, very interesting times.........but what I would give to see an apron full of DC8's, B707's, a few Caravelles and a lone Constellation.

I am still a little young to remember them all in their heyday.

Best regards

Granite: At least at an airport that isn't at Marana or Mojave, eh? I agree! But don't forget short body 727s and DC9s or the classic Convair smokers!

sndp: Agreed also. With all the bickering about brand names we hear in the forum, it's easy to forget that it's great that we HAVE things to bicker about. Thanks for the reminder!

Great also that we have a topic that includes the words "Boeing" and "Airbus", but not "vs."!

It is great times for us aviation lovers. I often plan my travels so that I can fly on different aircraft. I still have not flown on the 737-600, 757-300, A340-200/300 and the A330-200.

Add updated versions of the 767 and 757 to your list.
