Since Onur Air's landing rights for the Netherlands have been suspended, a lot of dutch tourists are stuck in Turkey. MP will retrieve those pax and already asked KL for assistance.
Since the number of pax will range from 1500 - 2000, will we see one or two KL 747's in Turkey ?

Trust MP to come to the rescue... money to be made!
KL has leased their T7 to MP for charterflights inthe past too, but is currently short on a/c: B767 stuck in LHR!
MP has at least 1 MD11 converted to paxversion for this holiday season, that might be the one ferrying those passengers out of Turkey. They be soooo relieved to see either the red or the blue tail of their hometown carriers!

they have coverted MD11s. the only problem is lack of aircraft as these MD11 are already scheduled to fly. Moreover one rotation to Turkey takes around 8 hours (3.5 hours to Turkey and 4 hours from Turkey). I personaaly think we'll see the Spanish 747s and the Portugese L1011 a little more often than expected.

Apparantely Onur Air is attempting to re-register one of the L-1011 aircraft to an Austrian registration, flying under a different flag/name they can resume flights to the Netherlands. Don't think it's gonna work-out though.

I wonder that the IVW will think of this!
Since one of KL's 763's are stuck in LHR, did it affect any of the intl's services? or did they just fly an extra 737 instead of the 763 to LHR?

The IVW has already said that if they are able to put the L1011 on the Austrian register (which they doubt given their emphasis on the word "if"), they will allow the L1011 in The Netherlands. The only problem is that it would be difficult to get the L1011 on the Austrian register (the aircraft has been banned in The Netherlands and South Africa). Thus unless they do some repairs it isn't going to fly with an Austrian registration.
BTW Martinair hired the EC-IPN (Air Comet 747) to do 4 rotations to Turkey on Saturday and Sunday (Saturday to Dalaman and Bodrum and on Sunday two Antalya rotations)

All flight schedules were shuffled around a bit. Some B747 flights delayed, some B737 flights were cancelled, the strike in Italy was helpful! This particular B767 got out of LHR yesterday, was checked in AMS again and resumed service today.

actually KL is already in an Aircraft shortage... the 767 stuck at LHR, 1 767 recently left the fleet and they actually already hired a 737-800 from HV, since one of theire 737-400 is wo at BCN......
als MP has an airplane shortage, and theire very much needed 6th 767 is already contracted to fly Belgium routes for thomas cook. i actually think we will see a lot of HV planes going to turkye , although they are hiring 3 737's at the moment theire selfs because they are bussy..
a 4th option is Magic Blue, the new dutch airline wich will fly 2 757's, so maybe this will be a good moment to start operations.
still with the surinam 747, maybe some MP , KL, HV flights and magic blue, they can't catch up the , correct me if im wrong 14-20 daily dutch Onur air flights...
we might indeed see a L-1011 (active) based for a short time on AMS or will we see an KL 747-300 be put back in service for a month?
