I just saw this aircraft at YVR this morning. The last time I saw this aircraft was about three weeks ago. According to the information provided by JAL, this 747-446 was a replacement for the 747 classics, IFE is MAGIC II, and is equipped with 3 classes and it was delivered on 1993/06/08. From what I can remember, this is the first JL int'l configured aircraft to have a world cup special livery. In 2002, a 747-446D had these colors. However, as of 2005, how many aircrafts around the world have liveries specifically for the World Cup games in 2006? At which locations can these aircraft be seen?

It was just here in HNL yesterday, the 12th of May. In fact, I believe JA8909 with this special livery has been to HNL almost as much as JA8906, when JA8906 had the JAL 50th anniversary livery and in much less time.
It was disappointing not to have 8906 fly to HNL more often when it had the 50th anniversay livery. Especially since the livery said Japan to Hawaii on it.

Yes it is. I was reading a report that it flew directly to SFO. Now if JL was that obsessed with their very FIRST flight, they could have flew NRT-HNL-SFO.

I see many cancelled flights for JL76/76 these days. Why is that? That is the only flight out of HNL that is a 747-400 right?

It actually flew HND-HNL on February 2, 2004, ferried back to NRT on February 3, and then NRT-HNL on February 4. After that, it was awhile before it came back.

Low demand during non-peak times. Everyone seems to have been saving up travel for Golden Week and that lead to many days without JL76/75 before and after. BTW, JL72/71 is the 747-400 flight. JL76/75 used to be a mix of classic 747s on normal days and DC-10s on low demand days. With the DC-10s starting to be retired, when there is low demand days, they don't fly JL76/75. The same goes for JL88/87 out of KIX. This flight used to always be a DC-10, but is now always a 747 and when demand is low, this flight is cancelled.

Got a photo of it on May 10th, the same day that B-5085 arrived.
The challenge with that decal, and with JA8906 is that you pretty much have to wait until the wing crosses the centre of the frame to get a semi-back shot, or better yet, be above the wing line.

Quoting Ktachiya (Reply 6): SO JA8906 was still flying with the anniversay colors? Or is this JA8909 with the World Cup Colors?
He's talking about 8909. 8906 no longer has the anniversay decals. 8906 had them on for less than a year. I remember seeing it either in December or January and 8906 didn't have them anymore.

Well, with JA8906 colors being gone, I hope they keep the JA8909 colors (if Japan makes it to the World Cups, they will........)
Can anyone tell me about the interiors of this ac? I know that is configured in 3 classes but does it have the new shell flat seats? Or does it have the old Sky-Racks seats?
