I have flown Internation Business a few times with upgrades and domestic first many times but was considering premium economy for a few transatlantic flights I will be taking. I have tried seat guru etc but cannot get any specs on seat width of these seats and If British Airways or Virgin are basically offering a regular economy width seat with a few inches more legroom and padding (like some euro chartes do), I'm wondering if its worth it. I have read that Virgins seats are wider than BA's premuim economy. Anyone flown both or have any experiences they can share?

The seats are wider on both carriers, BA claim they offer 20% more space than regular economy. I have never flwn WT+ however I hear that for the extra money it is well worth the investment. Regarding Virgin Atlantic Premium Economy. The cost is consideraly more (normally) however the service is much better than regular economy with Champagne and extra goodies on board and at the airport; Lounges, check in!
Both seats have more recline than the economy seats and both have dedicated cabins.
On VS A340s however (both -300 and -600) there is no lav in the PE cabin, so you have to go back to economy.
I have flown the premium economy classes of both airlines and would say that premium economy on the Virgin A340-300 is really not that great, no leg rest, tattered seats on the planes I was on (VBUS, the eldest 340 and VSUN) as well as what I thought was tasteless cabin design and haphazard placement of red and blue seat covers. In addition, I didn't particularly fancy the Kylie Minogue taxiing music. The seat was wider than BA's, but there was no leg rest.
However, Virgin's Premium Economy is a more separate product. There is dedicated check-in and separate luggage tags for instance. You also get more miles (1.5x vs 1.25x).
Having said all that, I still prefer BA's product. I found the seat more comfortable to sit in and the service better...nevermind the champagne or orange juice you get before takeoff on Virgin...it would lousy anyway. In addition, you have the pleasure of flying with RB211s on BA's 744s, which is a key factor for me.
I forgot what the original thread was asking now, but I think that both are worth it from an absolute perspective, but it depends on how much more the price is. Typically WT+ is a few hundred more, and Virgin's is perhaps 500 more, coming from LAX to LHR anyway. I'd say that is worth it, but if you're going to fly on Virgin, make sure to avoid the 343s and get on the 744 or 346.
