yea but what I don't get is why the flight from PHL to FLL is also delayed. It is a different aircraft so I don't understand the delay. It says it is delayed to accommodate passengers from connecting flights...is it the flight from FCO????

Like I said, it changes to a 734!
Well, I'm guessing that since it is not arriving horribly late, they have 20 minutes to spare and get those PAX on their way. Also might have to do with the confusion if you have US3 departing and arriving at the same time.

US is probably holding the PHL- FLL segment until the flight gets in from Rome, eventhough its a different aircraft, the may be a good number of passengers flying FCO-PHL-FLL (could be a cruise related issue this time of year) that US cannot reaccommodate on later flights, so its holding the outbound flight in PHL. Just a guess.

I was thinking the same thing.
Does anybody know what happened to the passanger? Did he/she has a heart attack or something that they would have to land? What if they were half way over the Atlantic Ocean?

It's called a "change of gauge", and not unusual at all to have the domestic portion of the flight operated by a different aircraft. It's also not a situation unique to US Airways.
