Tonight at IAH at about 7:25 PM local time an AA MD-80 made an emergency landing at IAH on Rwy 15L. It touched down without incident and was subsequently surrounded by a cavalry of emergency vehicles with lights flashing. I suppose it was just a false alarm as all emergency vehicles left a few minutes later. I was just wondering if anyone has any details as to why the aircraft had to declare an emergency.

Unfortunately I don't have any information about this incident at IAH, although I witnessed an almost identical situation at SFO about 2 weeks ago, an AA MD-80 landed and was surrounded by fire equipment. I didn't read anything about it in the media or on this forum, so I assumed it was nothing major.
Maybe some of AA's MD-80s are so old that this is now SOP when they land?

LOL EzIndylan. I got some pics of today's "occurence" that are ready to upload, but I would like to have some info on what happened. Wouldn't you know--my scanner ran out of juice just before it happened!
