They've been doing some hiring. The website shows a lot of new faces. This was updated recently.

They're saying sometime in 2006. I guess they're taking a wait and see attitude in terms of what's going on in the industry (US/HP merger, UA's troubles, financial woes @ DL, the struggles of Indy Air, and the oil prices). Considering that the Virgin America website is like those of a number of startups that have yet to take flight (Legacy, Crystal, and to an extent, Primaris), all hype nothing really concrete (They all have been in the financing stage for quite sometime). V.Am. has been saying they'll be announcing their U.S. investors for close to a year now, and considering that it's been nearly a year since they announced the name and the Airbus order (of which the first a/c were originally planned to be delivered ealier this year.), the longer they go without making any some of movement publicly, the less likely they'll start up. I'm guessing that if Independence Air goes CH. 11 or CH. 7, V.Am. may step in and pick up the pieces, as it would be a quicker to get operations started up if they had Independence's O.C. The main issue about securing the fiancing for Virgin America is that most of the venture capitalists that would be involved in financing are tied in with the US/HP merger and with a few other airlines that are trying to get their ships righted.

Has Virgin America got any aircraft on order or in production?

Do they plan just to have A320's and A319's?

Are they still to be based at SFO?

Rob!
