When did TWA retire their 747s? What aircrafts replace the routes the 747s flew?

They were retired soon after the Flight 800 accident in July 1996 and replaced with the 767-200ER & 300ER aircraft for international routes.

twa retired their 747's and L1011's in 1997. they were replaced by a couple of 767's and several 757's. twa flew narrow guage service to lisbon and madrid during low season on the international 757's.

twa was loosing a lot of money operating those aircraft. twa doesn't have the market presence to fill up 747's to europe anymore.

there you go.
