Another off the rumor mill: when the time finally comes to retire Ship 102, Delta will repaint it in the original "Spirit Colors" and donate it to the Air and Space annex at Udvar-Hazy. Apparently there is a $1 million cost to Delta associated with this, but it would be well worth the benefits to employee morale I believe.

I had heard that the 762 fleet -including the spirit- had already been sold.
I would prefer your rumor, but I think that Delta needs every spare million they have to survive right now.
That said, as a frequent flyer, I hope Delta can pull it together. Maintenence seems to be getting worse. My flight Saturday on one of the 738's had a broken seat, broken tray and the seat-power system was inop.
The flight the previous week also had an inop. seat-power system.

Those employees still with the company (and former ones as well) who helped pay for that a/c would be really pissed if the a/c wasn't preserved in some way. Whether it goes to the U-H Annex of the NASM, or the Museum of Flight or Delta's museum, it needs to be preserved as an important piece of history.
