JetBlue starts 3 daily JFK-BUR today with a fourth starting 7/15/05! An exciting day as B6 will be the only airline flying nonstop from the east coast to BUR!

-- With new service into Bob Hope Airport, JetBlue becomes the first Airline to fly Nonstop from Burbank to New York City --

New York, NY (May 24, 2005) – JetBlue Airways [NASDAQ: JBLU] today launched its first nonstop flight to New York’s JFK International Airport from Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, CA, offering the first and only nonstop coast-to-coast service from the Southern California airport.

JetBlue plans three daily nonstop flights between Burbank and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport with a fourth to commence July 15, allowing the carrier to offer more daily nonstop flights to California from New York City than any other airline. Burbank will become JetBlue’s seventh California destination. In addition to its new service from Burbank, JetBlue currently offers two daily nonstop flights from Ontario and seven daily nonstop flights from Long Beach.

“The wait is finally over for nonstop service to New York from Burbank," said Dave Barger, President and COO of JetBlue Airways. With our new convenient service from Burbank complementing our existing nonstop service from Ontario and Long Beach, it’s no wonder our new advertising slogan is ‘LAX? Don’t even go there.’”

"JetBlue is coming here during the very week that Bob Hope Airport is celebrating its 75th Anniversary, and there couldn't be any better frosting on the cake than nonstop service to New York. This is certainly a time to remember the airport's marvelous history, but the arrival of JetBlue reminds us that Bob Hope Airport has a wonderful future ahead, too. We're all very pleased to welcome JetBlue to Burbank," said Charles Lombardo, President of the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority.

My mom lives about 20 minutes from BUR, and we have a lot of family in the NY area. It just amazes me that it has taken this long for BUR to get a flight like this. Great job, B6!

I spent the last 5 days working with B6's guerilla marketing campaign and folks in Socal are very excited about this new service.

LAX? Don't even go there.

They might want to rename LAX "James Hahn International Airport" after the soon to be former mayor. LAX is a mess and Hahn created a real mess. Sounds perfect to me.

Doubtful, being that DL is still trying to keep ATL Song-free. But how about Song service to JFK? Now, that would be something different  Silly .

It is too bad BUR is such an obsolete facility. It is convenient for Valley residents but parts of the main terminal were built by UA in 1930 and are still in use. Seating and concessions are extremely limited, there is inadequate counter space, not enough gates and no jetways.

During a strong Santa Ana wind condition, it is unlikely that a fully loaded A320 can get to JFK without a fuel stop. I blame the NIMBYs.

Burbank is restricted.

I have a great view of the landing path of BUR from my living room. I live at about 300 feet on the north face of the Hollywood hills in the valley. I can see the jets approach from the west and lose them right as they touch down. Also, any coming from the south will come over my house at a northwest direction, then bank into the landing path. (here comes one now...)

I'll take some pics on a clear day.

I'm also in the flight path for Van Nuys, a GA airport directly under the path for BUR. Get all sorts of loud private jets into there.

Not sure why Santa Anas would make takeoff harder, just have to fly into it. As for the heat, it's no worse than LAS or phoenix or Ontario, etc.

The airport is outdated, but Burbank has some nice areas.

Burbank Media Center area is close and a nice little downtown. Likely your hotel is there.

You also aren't far from Universal Studios and City Walk (5 minute cab ride). Fun place to walk around at night and plenty of places to eat, with bowling and a big multiplex w/ IMAX to boot.

Actually, that is a runway length, heat and terrain problem, not a NIMBY problem. The NIMBY problem is the too close to the runway terminal that is grandfathered in and the too small facilities. Still, I hope that whenever they build a new terminal, they keep the airstairs.

Hey B6FA4ever!

How are you???

Just commuted home last night and turned on the news this afternoon only to see a segment on your new BUR service. The pax who were interviewed were excited about not having to drive so far to get to NY. Now if only we could start BUR-DEN service so I don't have to deal with the traffic on the 110!!! Ahh! I live about 15 minutes from BUR and I'm looking forward to jumpseating on you guys! You all have a loyal following here in L.A. I hope you enjoy your BUR layovers!  Smile Cheers!

I am so glad we now have BUR as a destination (31). Now people near BUR don't have to drive to LAX, or even ONT and LGB to catch a flight.

Any pictures are welcome of jetBlue At BUR (lol i am jetBlueAtJFK and that is jetBlueAtBUR.lol..i laugh at myself here).

Hopefully one day the plane either diverts to BUR and you can work a flight or 2 out of there or maybe the will need you up there in BUR.

So they already had 2 flights go in and out, how are things going. I see that the first flight of the day went to gate A7 and then the others went to their gate A9.What is that about?

not unless they can free up more slots. with alaska, southwest, ua, hp, delta, aa in there, it's pretty full. maybe UA will have to trim down their services, or aa, in the future and B6 can get more slots.

though personally I'd like to see CO get in there with two EWR and two IAH flights a day. sorely needed...

there are no slots at burbank, stop saying that, bur has no flight restrictions like long beach. jetblue is rumored to eventually take 2-3 gates in bur, A7-A9, sharing A7 with swa once a day.
