Same design, different colors; a touch too similar to the French carrier. Couldn't they be more original? Looks like AF owns an interest the carrier.

Airline will start operations tomorrow MXP - IST

Yes it looks very similar to AF's livery.

I've never even heard of this airline, can someone give me some info on them? When will they start operations? What routes will they fly? What kind of airline are they?

Quoting Squirrel83 (Reply 1):
Why does it have a German Reg?

Because it was manufactured in Hamburg and will have a German Reg until Air Italy accepts delivery.

Likewise, Boeing aircraft are flown in U.S. registration until delivery and Tolousee aircraft fly with French registration until delivery.

Since when was the Boeing 757 manufactured in Hamburg?

The logo under the airline name at the front of the aircraft is identical to the Air France logo, with the short parallelograms and such. And yes, the tail is identical. Anyone have definite information on whether or not AF has influenced this operation and how much?

I think it's one of them knock off airlines, like those cheap Rolex you'd find at flea markets.

Air France --> Air Italy

Come on now... Hopefully they have an affiliation of some sort... It would be pathetic if Air Italy wasn't.

My recommendation : fire the marketing manager!!

Wow i was just about to post a thread myself about this!

Are they trying to capitalise on the reputation of AF by pretending they are related to them?!

Your choice of words threw people off  Wink - maintained would have worked tho.

It's a (previously) German-owned aircraft being maintained and painted in Germany - until Air Italy accepts delivery, it remains a German-registered aircraft.

Back to the original topic - it's a very cheap copy of AF.
They tried to mask it by putting Air Italy on the engines, how nice.
But look at the logo under "Air Italy" wow. lol

I can't seem to find a website for them yet?
http://www.airitaly.it/ - under construction
that's as close as I got, and it doesn't have any hint of being their site except the URL.

I was just wondering if it looked a little like this

However, I do not see too many similarities...

The fuselage is white. Okay, that's nothing unusual.

The stripes (number, thickness) on the tail are different. The colours may be the same as AZ, but can that really be a surprise? Let's think... what did the Italian flag look like again??

Also, with AF the stripes are limited to the tail, here they extend downwards.

The typeface is different.

I don't see the parallelogram on the AF plane. I do see them on the AF website though. Again, different number.

My guess, a very unimaginative livery "inspired" by what the designer probably considered a great livery - that of AF.

If I were head of this company, the first thing I would have said to those who conjured this livery is: "No way, it smacks of Air France! ... Go back to the drawing board."

I think they extended the tail logo to the fuselage to keep them disticnt, but it just doesn't work. In any case, I think they could have been more imaginative.

"Its nice to fly with friends again" ... 'Again'? I don't quite understand that slogan. When did we fly with friends before? Any ideas?

The titles on the tail remind me of the old Air Europa titles!

Kinda of a AF/AZ livery!

Any idea what routes they plan, are they a charter airline?

The titles are identical to the old, original, Air Europe/Air Europa font. Didn't they also have a slogan "It's good to fly with friends"? Maybe it's been formed by ex-Air Europe Italy staff members??  scratchchin

26 Capt.Fantastic : Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't "Alitalia" translate into Air Italy?
27 Post contains images AKelley728 : No, it's too clean, and the paint isn't peeling. There's absolutely no relationship to AF!
