i'm new here, so if this has been asked, please don't flame me, but i was just wondering not only what your favorite plane is, but _why_...
personally it is of course, the 757. I feel it is a good all around plane, but larger capacity and longer range than a 737, plus the POWER.
i remember way back when, i first saw one, i thought it loojed a little strange, so high off the ground, it looked a but akward, i watched as it taxied, lined up, then launched to V1...as soon as it hit V2 and gracefully lifted off, i was hooked.

The Boeing 737-700
I've flown the 700 twice. The first time on Southwest OAK to BUR, the second time on Alaska SMF to SEA. WN has theirs in an all coach 137 seat capacity. AS configured theirs for 120 seats, F12/Y108. Just like the 757 it has power and range. Its already flying for Aloha from HNL to OAK and Alaska will start ANC to ORD service in June. I think that its mix of range and seat capacity will open up new nonstop city pairs which otherwise would be uneconomical with larger aircraft. I also think that its seating capacity is just right, not too much, not too few.

Welcome to the fourm!! I do believe that this question has been asked a bunch of times but seeing that you are new I don't think that many people will mind replying!
I have to say that I have three planes that I really like!! First it would have to be the ConVair 990 series aircraft!! It looked soo cool with those shock fairings on the trailing edge of the wings!! It looked soo fast and I really wish that I had a chance to get on one!! but I don't think that will ever happen!! It is to bad that Howard Huges had to have is input in the design of it!! The 5 abrest totally ruined it!! If he never had any input I think that ConVair would still be in the Civil department!! Oh well I guess that we will never know!
My next type of aircraft would have to be the Iluyshin Il-96-300 or the " m " series of this certain aircraft!! Sure it looks alot like a A-340 but in its own way it still has that Russian look. The nose it totally different and the Tail has a slightly different look to it as well. I am a real fan of Russian Aerospace and I hope that someday they can really compete on a international level!! As to why I like this one so much I am not to sure!! I haven't flown on it and I have only seen pictures. I suppouse that it would have to be the mystery of it!!??
Next and last would have to be the A-320/319. They are really the same aircraft but one is a bit smaller!! I love the sound that it makes taking off!! The first time I was on this bird I was totally amazed!! With Air Canada they have the small Liquid Crystal screens every three or four rows!! I really like that feature!! How they show the movies and the saftey annoucments on them!! Plus it is really quite when you are at crusing speed!!
I think that is it but I would also have to say that I like the BAe 146-200. Oh well I guess that I have four favourite aircraft!! It is soo quite as well when you are at crusing speed and the flaps when being retracted and deployed make a very Odd sound!! Just the little quirks get me going on the planes!!

Hi, and welcome
My fav. Plane has got to be the Boeing 777s! They're quiet, big, and bueatiful! I've flown on Jal's 777 twice, and BA's 777 once, and I fell in love with them instantlly! And I can't wait until Jal gets the new 777-200/300LRs.
My next fav. is got to be what is my username; Boeing 767-400er. Almost the same reason as the 777s but I like the glass cockpit of the 777s more.

my three picks would have to be...
1. 727 of course...especially the shorter version with the oval shaped #2 engine inlet. This plane has got to have the sharpest looking whale tail of any airliner ever produced...
2. would have to be the 747...just something about that hump in the front of the plane...the idea of two decks on a plane has a certian appeal to me...and those 4 large engines...very unique looking aircraft. Just a shame Boeing never produced that version with the upper deck that was to extend the full length of the aircraft.
3. I'd have to say the L1011 is next...It just looks so darn sturdy...very asthetical shape

Welcome Ual757! My two favorites are based solely on appearance because I haven't flown either. I just love the 777 and A330-200! I think they are by far the best looking planes flying right now. I love watching a 777 on takeoff. The wings flex more than on any other plane I've seen. As for the A330-200, I don't think I've seen one color scheme that looks bad on this airplane (even Monarch, which I've seen many people blast in this forum!).
The 747-400 is also a great airplane, and I look forward to seeing the A3XX someday if and when it is in fact launched! Once again, welcome. Look forward to reading your future posts!

I love the A330/340 because the engine noise level in the cabin is lower than average. These planes are pretty new and modern too. I'm sure that the B777 is a superb plane but I've never been on it.
The Japan Airlines DC-10's are just horrible so watch out!

I love the looks of Boieng 777 and the Airbus 330, but my favorite planes are still the Airbus A320 single aisle family. I think it's not especially beautiful, but that's not why planes are made. They are mede to transport people and goods. What mekes these planes special is the cross cockpit qualification. Or is it cross crew qualification? Anyway it's an ingenious design. To fly all of these planes (319, 320, 321) you need only one type qualification. I think the biggest carrier in Finland is slowly moving towards an all Airbus fleet because of this fact.

Has to be Concorde.
I am lucky in that I work in BA maintenance base at LHR. When I go for lunch I have to walk through the centre of the hangars. After passing either a 747-400 or 777-200 there is the most breathtaking sight of concorde pointing directly at you. My first day at work I just stood there looking at it.
I live about 4 miles from LHR and it is the only aircraft that makes everyone look up when it comes in.
It is quite simply the most attractive aircraft around, and I can't wait to get on it.
