They did promise to expand at BSL. Wasn't there a rumour of them using the 'new' terminal (originally built for LX) exclusively too? Great news though.

Not surprised about MAD and AGP (AGP seems, to sound like an American, a 'no-brainer.'). I am surprised about HAM.

Is that the first time U2 have operated to HAM?

I take it that's the real HAM rather than Ryanair's version in Lubeck  Wink

Yeah Hamburg is a new city for easyJet, it will be the real one, not the one 2million miles away that  spit Ryanair use!!

Excellent news and good selection of destinations. Basel-Hamburg has traditionally a lot of demand and there are also a lot of similaries between the two cities.
Now I wonder what Air Berlin will do. They are currently in talks with the airport (confirmed by Air Berlin's boss and Basel airport spokeswomen).

7LBAC111: easyJet will use a building to board the planes that Crossair used a few years ago. Crossair has built this additional building because the normal terminal was too small. It was closed until a few months ago easyJet arrived here.

By the way. If you compare the former Crossair route network with the current easyJet network at Basel then you can see that easyJet is focussing on Spain, where Crossair used to be very strong (they served second most destinations in Spain after Iberia...).

"SWISS" said that there would be not enough demand for the routes and stopped them. So easyJet is more than welcome in Basel.

However, I wonder what happened with the rumoured Dortmund service?! Oh well, they also need to do something with aircraft 4-6...  Wink

Just as a side note: easy hotel just announced that Basel will be their second base after the hotel in London which opens this summer. The Basel hotel will open on September 1st and prices start at Euro 30 (as far as I know).

The hotel is located near the Swissotel... Big grin
