Sun Country has hired 15 new reps and have plans to add service once they move to the new international terminal D in July. They said in the airport newspaper that they would like to reach signatory status at DFW airport. The new routes they have planned are DFW-LAS, DFW-MCO as of right now they are flying DFW-CUN, 2X daily DFW-MSP.

AirStatDFW, Are you sure about that?
SY is going to fly DFW-MCO, DFW-LAS?
Its news to me. I checked the SY web site, and that service is not there.
Do you have a link to your story?

No I dont, I read it in the the DFW People the airport newspaper. In the artical it says "Martha Hardin station manager for Sun Country at DFW said her airline plans to futher establish itself at DFW." DFW-LAS and DFW-MCO are the routes they are planning on.

Thanks AirStatDFW. I know they are flying some people for Apple Vacations, but only DFW-CUN, on their regular flights.

I guess we will have to wait and see wants happens. Someone may have let the cat out of the bag. ???

Hmm....that sounds fishy. 5x daily Sun Country along with the Northwest flights and all of the American flights? Are there that many Texans that want to go up north to go Pike fishing in the summer? Ha.

Really, though, where is all of this demand coming from to warrant these flights?

Apple Vacations has committed to purchasing a certain number of seats.... and the schedule expansion doesn't start until the fall... think of the other way around in terms of traffic direction.

5X a day to DFW I don't think so.
I am sure the folks at SY must be crying because they are laughing so hard after reading this post.

People get your facts straight before you post.

What other good ones can you come up with?

DFW-LAS and DFW-MCO are two routes that FL has tried to go head to head with AA. AA has added capacity on routes where they compete with FL, making it tough to make money. I can't imagine stepping into a fare fight like that would be attractive for Sun Country.

That's crazy!

DFW-LAS already has FL, AA ( a shitload) and FL! The fares are low and yields are poor. But there is no press release or anything so I'm not holding my breath...

Next flights: WN DSM-LAS-PHX, US PHX-SJD.

I've done the DFW-MSP-DFW roundtrip on SY once--it was only $149 as compared to $336 on AA and NW. I think I flew up on a Saturday and returned the next Sunday, both flights were completely full.
