What month in 2001 is your record? I have it stored at MSP July 2001.

DC-10-15 line #362, ex-Sun Country N153SY, registration cancelled 8/2001.
Last known location, stored in Victorville, CA. This is all I can find per the FAA N-number database, Airfleets.net & CactusWings.com. Sorry I can't be of more help to ya. Regards.

Ah, the aircraft brings back some memories for me when I lived in Minneapolis! Everything I've checked indicates that aircraft hasn't been seen since July 2001 also. How odd an aircraft can go out of sight like that in the U.S. assuming it wasn't broken up.

Last information at SY was that she was scrapped in Victorville or was at lest parted out. I remember seeing photos of it with out engines. It will not fly again.

You are correct! I did a trip into VCV a few months ago and there are some pieces of it.

It must have been scrapped recently then.

www.airfleets.net still shows it as stored but www.cactuswings.net showed the last report of it as 2001, (October I think).

Hence my confusion.

This was around about December. However there is an all white DC-10 in VCV with no markings. Try looking up recent pictures of VCV. But if I recall it was in pieces I remeber seeing this one on the ramp for a long time. Then it was gone. I'll have a look at some photos I took on the ramp in VCV.

I have taken another look at the pictures for VCV.

There are plenty of N154SY, but none for N153SY. This is why I initially assumed that it was scrapped soon after arrival.

Something completely different: I read somewhere that a beer can's components are made of three different Al-alloys and none of the common aircraft alloys match any of them.
