Does anyone have a vague idea of how many transatlantic flights there would be on a daily basis (on average). To be more specific, I am talking about flights (in one direction) from North America (Canada, USA, Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean) to Europe. The choice is random, of course. It would take a long time to figure out, but I imagine it can be done. Any ideas?

Next flights: YQM-YYZ-YOW v.v. / YQM-CUN v.v. / YQM-YUL-YWG v.v. / YSJ-YYZ-SEA-SFO / SFO-YYZ-YOW-YQM / YQM-YYZ-MUC-TXL /

Thats 79 flights just from the UK and not including BA which must be atleast another 30 flights a day, which I dont even want to think about. I can feel my brain already boiling away.

This also does not include the West Indies, Bahamas, Mexico or Canadian flights. Plus also the numerous number of charter flights that take the Brits accross the Atlantic every day for a dose of Mickey Mouse and Sunshine!

I am not counting how many times a day

Lufthansa-to US Destinations
FRA-JFK, EWR, IAH, IAD, MIA, DTW, DFW, DIA, LAX, SFO, ORD, PDX, ATL, BOS
MUC- ATL, ORD, LAX, SFO, BOS, CLT, IAD

And that is just Lufthansa.... not counting the fact that some destinations have 2 flights daily from Frankfurt and/or Munich.

I've heard a figure of 1,100 quoted before. I've tried to substantiate this with Google but all I could find was a quote: "1999 – Oceanic Area Control Centre handles 334,301 crossings of the Atlantic" - I make that about 916 per day.

Quoting Wdleiser (Reply 3):
Lufthansa-to US Destinations

some more original LH-routes:
FRA: PHL (DIA -> DEN)
MUC: EWR, JFK - but delete ATL (MUC - ATL is only served by DL)
DUS: ORD

P.S.
I find the numbers posted by Geoffm quite impressive !

Hi Wdleiser,
before somebody elso jumps on that waggon: FRA - ATL is operated by LH; its MUC - ATL that´s operated by DL only.

Have fun,
HT
