Although it was known that Air Madrid would fly to Santa Cruz Viru Viru International Airport soon (VVI) - data from Air Madrid website and airliners.net, today in the newspaper "Los Tiempos" (http://www.lostiempos.com/noticias/01-06-05/01_06_05_eco8.php) it was published that they will start flights to La Paz (LPB).

What is correct? Any infos?

Interesting!

Given the situation that La Paz is currently experiencing, I wonder why they would choose to fly to La Paz. Perhaps, it has to do with the fact most of the passengers it will be catering to are headed to El Alto? I read that El Alto is experiencing lack of fuel shortage recently. Things will geting quite interesting there. Is LAB flying to MAD twice weekly?

La Paz is currently a basketcase compared to Santa Cruz; moreover, you can't get very far from LPB because of the altitude, so maybe LPB-VVI-MAD would be good? Any idea how far you can get from LPB with a reasonable load on an A330?

I guess they´d need to do a tech stop at VVI on the return flight.

Well, it´s said - unconfirmed - that the flight will be MAD-LIM-LPB-LIM-MAD, which is more to get a better yield of the crew which would fly only LIM-LPB-LIM, just like LH did years ago.

I also feel it will be impossible for the 330 to get very far with good loads ex LPB.

About the chaos in La Paz now, surelly it will not last forever....
