An agreement has been reached between the Belgian government and Swissair for the latter to get 85% of the shares of Sabena, provided the EU Commission gives its okay.
In return, the Belgian government would become the main shareholder of SAirGroup with 3.3%, and they would be able to appoint the vice president.
The sale of the additional 35% of shares will raise Belgium 150 million Euro, or USD 139.530.000.

Finally there is the agreement we have all been waiting for. I can't say I'm very happy, I feel a little bit strange, now that our Belgian airline is in foreign hands. But on the other hand, I realize that it is the only possible way for SN to survive in tommorow's economy. I just hope Swissair will always keep the name Sabena. They may be the main share holder now but that doesn't want to say SN doesn't stay ours.
