This morning at SFO, I was comfortably ( NOT) seated in my Economy Plus seat (on the UA shuttle!!). As we were holding for take off at the end of the runway, a 747-400 was in final approach on the cross-runway. It came within 10 feet of the ground, and then I see it going back up in a steep climb, landing gear retracting. WOW! I had never seen this in my life, and I can't help but wonder what it must have felt like as a passenger.
It was a 8:am landing, so I assume it was a flight from Japan or China.
Does anyone have more information on what happened?

I have seen that too a few years ago an America West 737-300 was landing at ABQ and it did the same thing too. If i was a passenger i would probably be scared for a little bit, but then say "Hey! at least i get to be on the plane longer!"

I was on an ATA L-1011 in 1987 which aborted a landing in Philadelphia because of another a/c on the runway. I wasn't too alarmed & I really enjoyed the steep climbout.
