Aren't they upgrading their GLA flight to a 773, or am I dreaming. Either way, Emirates is doing very well in the UK, kudos to them!

Yes,
The A330-200 used on the luchtime Manchester service is being used for the second daily Birmingham flight, and the B777-200 which did the daily Birmingham flight is being used on the lunchtime Manchester service.

From the beginning of October both the luchtime Manchester and Glasgow flights are upgraded to the B777-300ER. The evening Manchester remains an A330-200 throughout...

I take it that the UAE and the UK have open skies or a very liberal air traffic agreement? With all of the flights Emirates has and now Etihad being on the scene, there don't seem to be too many restrictions on their growth in the UK.

13 flights a DAY is a hell lot, but almost 85-90% of these flights are full of transit pax to UK from countries like INDIA/PAKISTAN/BANGLADESH/Sri Lanka to mention a few.

Here in Nottingham they have been advertising the 2nd daily EK service from Birmingham on tv but at the end of the ad it says "starts June 1st (excluding August)".Whats the reason for this?

Because they are launching the 5th daily LHR flight during august with a 330 and require the aircraft for this flight, so BHX will revert back to a daily 772 flight during august, mainly due to a lack of aircraft, then reverts back to two 330s in september.

Is MAN really getting the 773ER from october? Id love to see the machine at MAN!

Matt

A large chunk of EK flights to the UK is made up of ethnic traffic, but equally there is a large amount of O&D tourist traffic which is likely to increase in the future.

So what will happen to the LHR service when the aircraft goes back to BHX?
Are they waiting for more aircraft (77W) to be delivered for the 5th daily route?

Rob!

Well i guess they must have more aircraft that are due for delivery during august as it is definitely back to twice daily from september onwards.

Matt.

P.S my quote button doesn't seem to be working, so apologies for that!

The 5th daily LHR will initially operate with a high density config. A330-200. From 1 Sept. this will operate using an A330-200 low density.

Due to aircraft shortages, in order to accomodate the 5th daily LHR other parts of the network will see a further deferral of increased frequencies.

The plan to make HKG a daily non-stop A330 has been modified. It will now only op. 4x week.

The plan to take ATH to a daily non-stop A330 has also been affected. It will now operate non-stop 5x week and a 6th flight will be routed through LCA.

Introduction of 77Ws in the UK is as follows-
GLA EK25/26 - 1 October 2005
MAN EK17/18 - 1 October 2005
LHR EK1/2 - 30 October 2005
LGW EK11/12 - 1 March 2006

Maybe now people will start understanding more and more why emirates need the A 380!!! Well atleast on the UK sector. I think they will be operating atleast 6 or 8 of them on the UK route alone!!! And with the ticket prices dropping more and more people will be flying Emirates!!!

Well that is my opinion... we yet have to wait and see

Cool, bring on 1st of October at MAN, ill definitely try and get a view of that huge thing when it arrives! Any possibility of a 3rd daily MAN flight? There was rumours just after EK19/20 was launched that a 3rd flight, in the morning, wouldn't be too far away, any news on this?

Matt

Not in the short-term - we'll be seeing them go to 777s on both services by Apil 2007, when A380s may start appearing on EK17 (dependent upon deliveries). Perhaps by 2009 a 3rd service may be added.
