Just wanted to post the same. Here the list:

1 Cathay Pacific
2 Qantas Airways
3 Emirates
4 Singapore Airlines
5 British Airways
6 Malaysia Airlines
7 Thai Airways

No surprise for me that nothing from Europe and US (except BA) in this list! European and US Airlnes are losing ground with the disgusting prducts the offer..

Edit: Things even become more clear when one looks at rank 8, 9, 10

8. Qatar Airways,
9. Asiana Airlines
10. ANA All Nippon Airways

Surprise for me that ANA is part of teh list, as I was told their seat pitch on only for people below 5 feet

Way to go ASIA! You produce the best airlines in the world

Lovely. Good to see QF up there. MH and TG have come a long way and their cabin products have suddenly jumped above many U.S. and European products. Enhanced by their brilliant cabin services, they are really going to shine in the future.

The U.S. airlines have enough issues with bankruptcy. Good to see JetBlue is the star for the United States.

Cheers

No surprise about US, but quite a surprise about Europe. It was always, 1.Asia 2.Europe 3. US (between these three), now it looks like 2 and 3 are getting very close... And, of course, not a surprise at all BA is one of the best. Glad to see Finnair named one of the best in Europe - absolutely deserved but always underrated.

I'm getting a bit tired of these league tables... It's very subjective to say which airline is the best! If what you want is smiling Asian babes serving government subsidized food and drinks onboard subsidized planes then great! For me, I'd rather have clean, safe planes with properly trained pilots, and crew that are human and genuinely interested in providing service, all this gained on merit, not grants...

Nice to see BA made it into the league though.

With the salaries we have in the western world, it is more difficult to offer luxury service to the same price as asian carriers, because in Asia like in India where you still dont have the same living standards as in Europe and the US, you dont pay as much money to your employees as we do, and you dont have many taxes either, but if you think you can make money on having the best service around on an airline that is based in Europe or the US, then go ahead!
Its just not going to be easy

For some above just putting in a lot of crew, catering, seat pitch & IFE is part of showing national pride, profitability trade-offs are not so important.

Gulf Air, United Arab Emirates
Continental, United States

Very, very nice to ONE U.S. based carrier in the TOP 3 Business Class . . .Continental! Since CO doesn't have a First Class, only Business Class, this is indeed a pleasant surprise.

http://money.cnn.com/popups/2005/consumer/best_airlines/content.4.html

North America
Air Canada, Canada
JetBlue, United States
Continental, United States

Also very nice to see Continental as one of the best in North America!

And of course, Catering. Continental is still serving food as opposed to that attrocious excuse for "catering" on NW and AA . . .

Way to go Continental!

Gee, where is the much touted UA and AA and NW and DL??? Not on ANY list. And imagine that . . . .

about B6:

"Actually, the U.S. carrier that performed best on the Skytrax survey was JetBlue. The scrappy New York-based discounter was named the world's top low-cost airline.

That makes sense to me. After all, JetBlue combines some of its nation's best cultural values. It's innovative -- love that satellite TV service -- with an energetic workforce. On the operations side, the company hums with an efficiency to make an MBA proud, streamlined from seats to fleet."

These ranking means nothing. Hardly a representative survery of people who travel. The way the ranking is done - based upon a select number of people who don't mind answering surveys. I have been part of such a survey myself concerning airline lounges. The interesting thing about that survey, was that it did not have lounges of all airlines. The majority of the lounges in question were those of American carriers 1 Asian and if I remember correctly 2 European carrier

= Is there some new whining disease that people from Europe have got? Isn't the Airbus whining enough? India - I will give you that. But if you have any knowledge, you should know that living standards of Japan, Hong Kong are higher than composite Europe and Singapore, UAE, Australia, Korea very close to it. Their airlines (CX, SQ, NH, QF, EK, OZ) make the top has nothing to do with PPP adjusted wage differentials or national living standards. Even the other ranked Asian airlines - MH, TG, QR all come from middle-income countries - I dont see TAROM, LOT, Olympic making the list.

Dont find faults just because Europe did not do well. If you look at past records, there has been several great european airlines - BA, SR, and I think AY iis superb as well. Dont feel "robbed" please.

AC has improved significantly over the past few months, and they aren't that bad. Compared to a lot of North American airlines, AC is one of the better ones.

The crew, though less efficient than their counterparts on CX, MH and SQ, are more friendly than in years past. Seat pitch in Y is adequate and more generous than CO's 31". My meals on long-haul with AC have ranged from average to great. So all in all, I'm not that surprised that AC is the best in North Am. I mean, the competition isn't exactly SQ, CX, QR or BA!
