Aircraft:
Boeing 737-300 Baggage Claim:
Not Available
Status: In Flight
Comments: This flight was scheduled to operate from Fort Myers Rsw, FL to Philadelphia, PA to Providence, RI. The landing in Philadelphia, PA has been cancelled. The flight has been rerouted directly from Fort Myers Rsw, FL to Providence, RI. Customers who were scheduled to depart from Philadelphia, PA will be re-accommodated. For information about your party please contact US Airways Reservations at (800) 428-4322.This flight is estimated to arrive in Providence, RI at 9:43pm.
This has to be some sort of royal pain for CSR's, in addition to anybody who wasn't intending to fly from Fort Myers to Providence. What are passengers who were supposed to connect in Philadelphia supposed to do here? Find another flight through Charlotte, or what?

Most likely with the delays going on in the NE... Most pax would have missed their connections, or had them cancelled. I'm guessing they will be rebooked thru CLT or somewhere else, or have to wait until tomorrow Unfortunately, not much is going to go well tonite here in the NE.

It was most likely diverted straight to PVD due to storms in PHL.
Paxs will probably be put up in a hotel or possibly bussed to other close NE cities such as BOS or MHT if that is their final dest.
Otherwise connecting paxs will be routed back through PHL in the morning.

Quoting DCAflyboy (Reply 2): Paxs will probably be put up in a hotel
Pax will very likely not be put up in a hotel due to a wx/atc diverstion. This sounds like smart planning on US's part. This plan was likely put in place before the flight departed RSW. Perhaps the majority of pax were continuing through to PVD. The rest were likely rebooked through CLT or for tomorrow. By overflying PHL, the line of flying runs closer to schedule and an aircraft and crew are in position.

Groundstop-Looking at things, it seems that US 505 PVD-PHL has been delayed enough that any O&D traffic between Fort Myers and Philadelphia on US 36 could easily fly US 505 PVD-PHL...presumably, passengers could get back to Philadelphia, and then fly from PHL to their destination in the morning, although of the possible (normal) connections from PHL, only a handful would make more sense to fly RSW-PVD-PHL and then connect in the morning, versus get bussed from PVD (legal connections from PHL from US 36 RSW-PHL are to YYZ, BUF, DCA, PIT, YUL, BOS, LGA, CLE, BTV, ITH, SCE, HPN, ALB, HVN, RIC, SYR, RDU, EWR, IPT, ELM, ROC, ABE, ORF, BDL, SBY, AVP, BGM, MDT, MHT, and BWI, in addition to the direct flight to Providence)
