Hi all,

This was alredy posted a few days ago, but now we have the updates:

tonight on France2 at 8:55PM, there will be a long report on the A380 (almost 3 hours long). The subjects are:

-the first flight
-128 days before the first flight - a commercial challenge
-28 days before the first flight - an industrial challenge
-Backstage on d-day

There will be, among others, Claude Lelaie, Jaques Rosay (test pilots), and Fernando Alonso (Vice President Flight Test Division), Gérard Desbois, Manfred Birnfeld and Jacky Joye (flight test engineers).
That makes the crew of six that were in the first flight!

Can't wait for it!

It's not about AIRBUS. it's not about BOEING. It's all about the beauty of FLYING.

Hi Kenta. I had a look for you but unfortunately I found nothing about a live broadcast. I don't know if there's any way to record the show other than on VCR?

I don't think they will put it on the net.

BUT,

Yesterday, they spoke about the Paris Air Show on the news. So:

Go to http://videojts.france2.fr/ and choose the 20.00 editions.
Choose the Sat 11th edition (for those who will see this post later. Right now it's the default one)
Wait for the ad to finish (30s).
Move the slider to 20:30.
You'll have some display of the Dassault Rafale + Falcon F7-X flying and then, an extract of tonight show.
It's in french but the images are gorgeous.

Some interesting stuffs:

  • NEW IMAGES !!!
  • The engineer in the cockpit tries to switch something ON on the overhead panel and Claude Lelaie -the Captain- stops him saying "wait, wait, wait".
  • They make some jokes like "Throw the pilots out!" but I don't know if it's correlated to the above event.
  • At the end of the extract, one of the engineer at the back says "Here at the rear it's very comfortable, it's like a cruise ship" and the FO (not sure) says "OK, do you want to do something else?"

Having seen this extract, tonight's show should be very cool (Thanks Mum to record it for me as I'm in the UK Big grin)

Cheers!

Sorry about my rough translation he said "paquebot" = steamer or liner.
I guess he meant that even when the bird is cruising, you can't feel anything.

Even if you've never been on a liner before, you can see what he meant.

I think the guy wanted to compare the A380 to something very stable, smooth, -Mercedes S-class?  Smile- i.e. not a A320 which would be more like a Smart  tongue .

And as a side note, the A380 is often refered to the "Liner of the Air" in France.

Cheers!

It just started!! Look real good, they're in TLS, not live though, in a hangar, with a A340-600, an A318 and the 380! Excellent!

The show is done. Really cool and interesting. Sorry Kenta, they said it would be aired again, but no details on when...

They showed all sides from the first flight, including views of all the people that came to see the flight, with the spotters and so on. And a lot of really cool images, like the ones from Claude Lelaie when he was filming in the plane with his digicam. Really excellent!

Cheers, hop you'll get to see it. It was called "A380, l'envol d'un géant"

Nice curves, wing bending + even horizontal stabilizer bending during landing, demo of the demo D) of the Paris AirShow:

Same procedure as in reply #4:

News of 20.00, 12th June Slider to 40:45.

Note: joke in the show: "The barrels the customers will see in the plane are not filled with wine... but with water". OK, journalists' humour, I agree not so hilarious.

Edited: some infos:
- it was its 22nd flight
- Landing weight = 320t
- Jacques Rosay's (FO) press speech: "The plane enjoys a good health. It's a success; the fact to have it here is a success."

Cheers!

I have seen it and it was great!!

I really liked the camera on-board during the first flight.

Thanks to this camera, we have learned that during the first flight, they had a problem with the landing gear!

For your information, the show will be replayed on TV5, the french channel broadcasted abroad, very soon.

4 min of the Air Show:

  • A380: Wow, incredibly W_I_D_E door: look at it when Chirac enters the plane. It looks like we almost could enter the bird 3 side-by-side  crowded  (uhhhh... almost Big grin)
  • Tiger helicopter: performing a nice looping
  • Falcon 7-X
  • Dassault Rafale

+ a 2 min show of the F18-Hornet. From the commentaries: It has to convince the potential customers in 6min. It has missiles to show that although it has to carry them, it is still easy to handle. The pilot will start the engines... which can roast a chicken at 50m (150ft).  Wink

Procede as in reply #4 again, with: News of 13.00 13th June, slider at 17:00.
