Should UAL Ramp Up Service To Oz?

Now that the Australian government has delayed any decision on granting SQ access to SYD-LAX, wouldn't this be a good opportunity for UAL to increase service?

SQ's argument was that QF had "no competition" on the route (I guess it tells us what SQ thinks of UA!).

SQ also argued that lack of competition was depriving Australia of $96M in annual tourism dollars. If that is so, then surely, if UAL keeps the same schedule, it should attract other US carriers to this lucrative market. No?

UAL could do a BA and offer 70+ business class seats on their 744's and really go all out for the business traveler.

If SQ succeeds in flying from SYD-LAX, how about UA adding SYD-SIN?
