As per Economic Times, Jet will delay the start of its BOM-BRU-EWR service to end of July as it needs more time to get all the necessary approvals. Looks like Jet has missed the peak season from American side and may also lose out on the student traffic from India to USA, as most make their plans early.
Perhaps they should use their A340s on Singapore and Kuala Lumpur sectors until they can start EWR service.

Well, hopefully they'll get the approvals needed and the baseless allegations of the Jet Airways USA company will be dropped. Hopefully this date will not have to be pushed back again.

Quoting Snehnath (Reply 2): You can be pretty sure that Boeing is going to push for the approval for 9W given the recent 777 order.
Or you can reverse the sentence, and guess that buying 777 was necessary to receive the required approval: after all this is what we are used to hear about Airbusses and CDG slots !
Avoid AFKL 773 sardine cans with their 3-4-3 config in Y ! AF 772 are next

Another conspiracy theory- maybe there is something to it.

It's the same conspiracy theory.
This is standard counter charging. The party faced with a regulatory complaint denies the charge, and the complainant then files a countercharge that is even more far-fetched. It's a delaying tactic that many regulatory agencies face. When burdened with several petitions, they have to then create a docket which is then subject to greater scrutiny, etc. Of course, agencies do not like this, and tend to penalize such complainants in any future actions. Hope this petty little Maryland company gets its just desserts.

will 9Ws BRU-EWR flights connect both ways with its BOM-CMB and BOM-SIN/KUL flights? or are they mainly aiming for that flight catering to the India-BRU-USA market?

It will be interesting to see what their load factors will be given that they would miss the peak season. Does anyone know what AI's load factors are in September-November period.

BRU is essentially just a fuel stop on BOM-EWR. Allegedly there is little BRU-BOM traffic.

I doubt it - There is enough demand to fly non-stop between Surat and Antwerp - Absent that, BOM-BRU makes perfect sense. Currently Surat area accounts for a heft chunk of India's 9B$ diamond polishing business.

As per Economic Times, delays from Weeks to months are possible. Will the Indian side retaliate in the future by sitting on approval applications from US airlines?

David Modesitt from the office of the secretary of transportation, USA, told ET that clearances may take "from Weeks to months".

True. It is not like one can trust diamonds to be shipped via air freight.

me thinks that the reason that the permission for the US flights were delayed from the DGCA end itself is because 9w were falling short of quite a few million ASKMs in the domestic sector for cat2 and 3 routes. that's why the number of flights have been increased during the month of May and June as the DGCA needed to see substantial progress on 9w meeting these requirements.

I've seen on many a BRU-JFK trips; atleast few folks who arrive with a small briefcase/bag cuffed to their hands. I'm sure they are pretty heavily bonded too

No, it's not only that. July and December are the heaviest months for BRU-India traffic, all connecting via ZRH, FRA or LON, but the rest of the year we're doing quite well, too. 99% of my customers are Indian diamond traders from Mumbai.
And we are like 6 travel agencies in proximity of 200 meters....
