As much as I wish the airline all the best, I think their paint job is simply awful! The red and greens imply do not go...

Anyway, I look forward to seeing this bird around LHR soon!

Cheers,
Ian.

Why didn´t they leave the fuselage in silver? The repaint to white costs money and looks less good.
But good that finally a nice shiny aircraft is operated by a "Nigerian" airline.

I presume you mean what nationality the pilots will be? Or who will run the airline? Eitehr way however, I would have thouight that Nigerians would play a major part in the airline. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Cheers,
Ian.

First flight departs 4th July 2005.

Does it mean they will only have 40 minutes to turn their A340 around for departure? That would be incredibly fast!

A bit longer than that. The LOS-LHR flights operate on Wed, Fri and Sun, and the return flight operates Tues, Thurs and Sat. So its on the ground at LHR more than 24 hours each run, it seems.

I am guessing that the next aircraft to enter the Virgin Nigeria fleet will be:

G-VSUN
G-VAEL AND
G-VFLY.

If u look at
http://www.v-flyer.com/entertainment.asp and go to Arcadia it says just above the list of aircraft:

The Arcadia system is on a selection of A340 aircraft, but is likely to be phased out as these aircraft leave the fleet.

Someone correct me if i am wrong!

VK will use the Virgin Arcadia flight entertainment system but the flight menu, among other inflight amenities, will bear the Virgin Nigeria logo.

It is only normal Virgin Nigeria will rely on Virgin Atlantic temporarily in providing flight crew, leased aircraft, some human resources, among other things until Virgin Nigeria gets at full speed for the Fall timetable.

I haven't seen such an ugly looking livery in a long time.

Maybe stupid question but why does Virgin need a Nigerian based airline to fly it's London route? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

Cheers.

Because Virgin Nigeria is not flying for Virgin Atlantic, it is flying for Nigeria as its flag carrier (will operate to other destinations such as JFK, DXB, FRA, etc. as well as domestic flights).

About the livery read the other thread on Virgin Nigeria...Cheers...

It will not operate to JFK, at least under the current situation. Unforunately, it has gotten caught in the dispute over Bermuda II. The US is claiming that it is a British carrier, and therefore would have to operate under the conditions of Bermuda II.

Can Virgin Nigeria operate to EWR, or is that still under the condtions of Bermua II?

Anywhere in the US would be governed by Bermuda II if Virgin Nigeria is considered a British carrier. That's because Bermuda II is the bilateral in effect between the US and the UK.

It's not a matter of 'being a British carrier'. The US DOT views Virgin Nigeria as being 'British controlled' which is different. This is arguable, since the majority of the board of directors have been appointed by the 51% Nigerian side (institutional investors).

25 777ER : A former VS A343 I assume ?? Just looking at the a.net photo will show that its an ex VS bird.
26 EurostarVA : It is a former VS bird, G-VBUS still registered the same, but this IS the corporate identity of Virgin Nigeria, being partly owned by Virgin Atlantic
27 JGPH1A : Possibly. VK is not a Participating Carrier, so you have to add a "/AYY" to the end of the TN input to get their schedules as well (or "/AVK"). Works
28 EurostarVA : Excuse my ignorance but what is the "TN" input? I am using the timetable function on amadeus.net

39 EurostarVA : Then why do we see VS schedules on Amadeus but not VK? Is it only because VS can sell its tickets on Amadeus and not yet for VK?
40 Aleksandar : The livery looks fine to me. Basically, it is Virgin brand with Nigerian flavour. Not bad. I only wonder why did they paint the fuselage white instead
41 JGPH1A : Good question. I'll have to check that - I'm not sure you should be seeing VS schedules, but anyway.

45 EurostarVA : It will enter wet-lease service on Jun 28. Part-time only, the remainder time it will be used on VS flights from London to India and China. Great way
46 Vasu : What happened to the original livery... that had a bird painted on the side?
