LE BOURGET, France, June 14 (Reuters) - Boeing Co. (BA.N: Quote, Profile, Research) is set to surmount Airbus' (EAD.PA: Quote, Profile, Research) 4-year order lead in 2005 thanks in part to a new unit that helps airlines fill gaps in their fleets, the jetmaker's sales head said on Tuesday.
The unit, established in January, has played a key role in several successful deals this year, including a 28-plane agreement with leasing giant International Leasing Finance Corp. (AIG.N: Quote, Profile, Research) announced at the Paris Air Show on Tuesday.
Looks like the Boeing sales machine is finally getting into stride. For decades Boeing sat around like a fat cat totally ignoring the Airbus threat. A little dose of humility is always good for business (and for the travelling public.)
The group was set up in January. Was this Stoncipher's doing?

Does "filling gaps" include the B orders for mostly A carriers that seem to fill certain niches for those airlines either in size, range, or delivery window?
Of all the things to worry about... the Wookie has no pants.
