Quoting Flying-Tiger (Reply 2): Per my understanding the Belfasts are based in BNE
The Belfast (there is only one of them, although I do recall something being said about another one being made airworthy, but I don't know how true that is) is no longer based in Brisbane (I believe an incident involving a large ammount of oil being spilt on the apron had something to do with that). I certainly haven't seen it down here in a long time, although I am told by another spotter that it still calls in here every now and then. The last I heard of it was that it was up in either Cairns or Townsville, and running freight to Honiara.

The Belfast and two 727s are currently in Cairns. I saw them again this afternoon.
The Belfast sits where the old Ansett Air Freight building was between the Domestic and International operations; while the 727s sit where the old Ansett Maintenance Hangar was on the GA side (now next to where the you beaut Hangar is being built for whoever).
I was pretty sure the first 727 was a -100 and briefly looking at the second from a distance it looked like a -200 however a friend assures me they are both -100s.
lists the first 727 as a 727-51C and I can't see any mention of a second. Interestingly the website says they are getting a DC-10.
And yes I had read that they were trying to get a second Belfast into the air again and asked the question here some months ago but can't recall any answer/s. I believe the problem was with the lack of Tynes. Someone told me it was so bad they were going to "borrow" one or two off the one here (if it could ever stay still long enough - and maybe that is why they got another 727?) in order to get the second one airworthy and ferry it out.
