I just uploaded that AY MD-11 video since I've seen quite a number of people request it on the forums. However, YouSendIt restricts the number of downloads per file, or the number of days files are up for (whatever comes first). Given the sheer amount of people that read these forums, it's very likely that the link will die within a few hours.
To make sure everyone gets to download the movie, please upload the file to YouSendIt after you're done downloading it - that way we can be sure to always have a fresh, working link for those who haven't downloaded it yet.

Again, if you download the file, please upload it to YouSendIt after your download is done.

Here's how it works: Go to http://www.yousendit.com, click the browse button and find the file you just downloaded. Enter your own email address on the recipient address field. Once your upload is done (it'll take a while), you'll get an email with the link to download the file. Post that link on this thread.

This is an honour system, I can't monitor who downloads the file, I can't tell when the download limit has been reached. All I rely on is your word, so please be nice and follow the rules - this will make sure most people who couldn't download it the first time around get their shot now.

Anyways, here's my link to start off the chain:

Enjoy!

The download link is dead now and nobody uploaded it again.

Oh well, I tried.

Bittorrent is a fair possibility. It's used by e.g. the NASA to deliver the World Wind software (everyone get yours already). You just need to set up a suitable host (tracker). As the traffic is peer-to-peer, the "host" will see very little actual load and stay friendly. The protocol is controlled, and virus freakup is unlikely. Even there the "seeding" is an honour process, but you can easily contribute more than your share if you're up to it.

Figures... It's disgusting how selfish people are.

Anyway, maybe we can coordinate this some other way. I'm sure a lot of you use file sharing software such as Kazaa or Limewire (I don't, actually). So, everyone who has it, could you please put it in your shared folder and then post the filename and network in this thread. That shouldn't be too difficult?

The problem with Kazaa is that it installs loads of spyware on your system, and you're downloading from people's computers which likely don't have much more bandwidth than you. The good thing about YouSendIt is that the file sits on their servers, which can withstand a lot more traffic and serve it way faster.

Go Bittorrent, google for sites offering the hosting (tracker) service. The service installs in a snap as a browser add-on, has protection built-in into the protocol, and is free, features no nagware, adware.

Yeah, I use bittorrent a lot. It still doesn't fix the speed issue, though. You're still downloading off regular computers with only average bandwidth...

I actually tried looking for a bittorrent host a few months ago, but the legitimate ones I found required that the poster had the copyright for the material, which we don't, even if distributing it should be ok, and I didn't want to leave my IP in the warez sites' logs.

Edit: And I'm sure people won't mind waiting a couple of hours more if they really want it. Having it on a high speed server isn't crucial.

And the "upload" slider of Bittorrent is set quite low by default, so this needs to be reset for broadband connections. The beauty of the Internet is the fact that all connected nodes appear equal to anyone else, hence the ease of peer-to-peer, and the ease of spreading malware.
