For the record:
I have flown on the AZ 777 to/from Italy a couple of times (MXP and FCO).
Pitch: Magnifica: 55"-60" There is one row at the bulkhead in the rear cabin that has the greater pitch. However, 55 is just fine and the seat, while not the Capri seat, allows for decent sleep and lots of space.
Economy: Seat width: 17.9" Pitch: 32", with foot rests out of the seat legs in front of you. Note: There are some bad seats near the third and rear door exits; the seats are 16.5" v. 17.9" and are VERY uncomfortable. They are there for lav and door access, avoid these seats at ALL COST.
The reason the seat appears to be less than 32" is the width of the seat in Economy. The seat depth (because of the IFE) is almost five inches wide at the top and about three at the lumbar. Also, the seat in its upright position is slightly pitched back about 10 degress. There are a number of other airlines that use this seat (SQ included) designed by Recaro (first time AZ did not use an Italian seat manufacturer for its aircraft).
The illusion, therefore, is that you have less seat pitch at the face, especially when the seat back is reclined in front of you. However, the screens do tilt, so when you recline your seat, you should be able to sufficiently tilt the screen to not interfere with your viewing.
The idea with the Recaro seat is that you are to put the seat back all the way back and be in a semi reclined position for the bulk of the flight. Many people claim that this seat is quite comfortable. Since I have flown only Magnifica, I can speak only to the Magnifica seat.
From an ergonomic standpoint, if you have an aisle seat and the center is empty, then you should have a great flight, no matter what the pitch is on the aircraft. Alitalia did a very good job with the IFE and the seats on the 777; they spared no expense in making the seating and the entertainment system the best there is in the industry, bar none....especially in Magnifica. On demand everything with touchscreen? It doesn't get any better. I'll take AZ to Europe on the 777 any day, in either class.
