How Many Delta A/c Left In "old New" Colors?

We used to periodically have threads about how many Delta aircraft were left in the classic widget colors. Now, sadly, they're all gone.

But just today as I went biking along the outskirts of TXL, I saw a DL 767-300 in the so-called "old new" colors. I'm curious if anyone can tell me how many Delta a/c are left in this livery (by a/c type) and how much time it will probably take to repaint them all into "Deltaflot" colors.

This just completed Song livery. Also 640 is being repainted into Song as well.

It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now.

Thanks guys, great info! I hadn't realized that all the 777s are in new colors already. With over 100 aircraft left in the 97 colors, I guess it will be quite a while before they're all painted.

DeltaMIA,

Not to be picky, but N926DL was photographed on jetphotos.net in the new colors. Also, any info on when the next 757 will be painted in the new colors?

I failed to mention that this list is as of 06/05/05. I wasn't certain of which ones have been painted in the mean time.
I don't have a schedule, but 640 is being painted currently from the New colors to Song.

Well I'll always have my model of Ship 7001 (N860DA) to remind of how good the 777-200 looked in the Ron Allen colors. Of my DL models I have, the only other one in the ONC is an MD-11.

To my knowledge, Business Express was the only connection carrier to have the 'Delta Widget' on the tail. ASA, Comair and Skywest all flew under their own colors at that time. All of these are from the same pre-'97 'widget' era.

There are no more Widget colors. The 737 list is tough to pin down right now. I'll get the list of retirement aircraft tonight. Last I looked there were seven 737 sitting on the ramp without titles. These planes are still showing up on the paint master list.

I believe 640 is painted but the interior mod is still on going. 613 should be the next Song paint. 940 is currently in paint to be followed by 990 and 996.

OO and OH each flew in their own version of a matching DL Connection livery.

We saw 4 here in savannah today (2 757's, a 737-800 and an MD-80). How many of the Comair CRJ's are still in the old color (With the blue tail and COMAIR painted in white)? All of the CRJ's here in SAV today were painted like this, and we usually only see a couple. Thanks.

The question was 'Widget' era... not current and '97...and note, still not 'widget' on the tails.

Right and I posted pictures of the aircraft from that era. While they don't contain the widget on the exterior of the plane I would consider them widget era paint jobs. Despite the lack of the widget they do maintain the Blue and red cheatlines leading to a black nose.

and to answer the original question...

Yes OH and OO are still flying CRJ's delivered and painted prior to the introduction of the 1997 scheme.

I'm pretty sure OH isn't flying any more jets in the old "Widget" livery. I've spotted 96% of the Comair fleet, and everything I have seen is at the latest in the Allen or Mullin (I have some Widgets spotted, but they have since been respotted by me and repainted), and a quick look through the database of the planes I haven't nailed are all in the New Colours (except for 821CA which is in the Allen). Last time I saw an OH jet in the Widget was in April 2004...

I did see a pair of OO CRJs at the Delta gates at SFO last month that were in the Widget.

Does anybody know how many MD88's Delta has in thier fleet?
I've been tracking the planes that I've been on through work and so far I've been on 54 of the MadDogs.
And I have a model of the B727-232 in the (OOC) Widget liverly that I bought from the Flight Store at CVG.

Why did Delta roll out the "old, new" colors in the first place. It seems like they spent quite a bit of money and resources to paint half of their fleet in "transitional" colors prior to the newest color scheme. Did they really change artistic direction half way through the rollout of the "old, new" scheme?

Not just the planes. Signage all over the route map, and Baggage carts, buildings, jetways etc...not sure about uniforms......wonder what the entire cost of that short-lived rebranding was.
