It was operating CO7, IAH-NRT, and must have had the engine problems sometime after takeoff.

Just saw her while taxing in on a NW flight. Looks good to have a Skyteam 777 at Terminal E. It's been a while since we've seen a heavy at gate 37!

Quoting ZRH (Reply 7): Can anybody explain me who or what is Peter Max?

PETER MAX
Max is one of Americas most famous and collected artists, in the league with Erte and LeRoy Neiman, but with a 60s spin. Famous for his leading role in the psychedelic art of the hippie generation. Exhibitions include The World of Peter Max at the M.H. de Young Museum, San Francisco and the Images of an Era show at the Corcoran Gallery, Washington, D.C. Comissions include 235 border murals at entry points to Canada and Mexico by U.S. General Services and six Liberty portraits at the White House at the invitation of Mrs. Reagan. Monuments include 1989 Liberty Heads, dedicated to the students of Beijing.
A lover of music, Max has been designated Official Artist for the Grammys, The 25th Anniversary of the New Orleans Jazz Festival and the Woodstock Music Festival. In the sports arena, Max has been the Official Artist for five Super Bowls, The World Cup USA, The U.S. Tennis Open and the NHL All-Star Game.
Always an optimist, Max sees a fabulous new age for the new millennium, filled with enormous possibilities. He also sees a need for a greater responsibility to our planet, and he is ever ready to serve as the "Global Artist."

So is PM gonna stay overnight with the crew and passengers or did CO fly another T7 into DFW to continue the flight to NRT? Sure hope that's the case, CO would have to pay alot of money to put up travellers in hotels.

The IAH B777 is a very small crew base. With NRT a long day, it would be doubtful to find a spare crew and plane, ferry to DFW, and with the logistics involved, be able to swap cargo and customers in a legal duty day. Also, the aircraft must make it in and out of NRT within curfew constraints.
Pilot crew required: 4
Flight attendant: can be from 12-15 (japanese speaker needed)
Also handling equipment for widebody aircraft are needed at a station that normally does not recieve any, and extra staff to handle the load.

Would pax needing to get to their destination sooner have the option of flying AA (assuming one of AA's DFW-NRT flights has not yet departed)? Or getting re-routed to NRT on another airline?

Quoting Ssides (Reply 13): (assuming one of AA's DFW-NRT flights has not yet departed)
CO 7 landed at DFW at 13:43. By that time, both of AA's NRT flights had already left (10:15 and 11:55). As for tomorrow, if CO's flight leaves on time, than it won't be worth it to stick around for AA. However, if CO 7's ETD gets pushed back any further, it might be worth it to run over to AA and beg them to endorse the ticket. Just guessing here, but there's probably a few CO maintenance guys working overtime at DFW tonight! (Or, for that matter, does CO even have 777-trained mechanics in DFW, did they have to fly them in from IAH, or perhaps contract AA?) One thing's for sure -- this delays is going to cost CO hundreds of thousands of dollars!

Peter Max should consider filing a lawsuit on CO for this. First you have the emotional trauma of an emergency landing, then the hassle of a 24 hour delay. My bet is you could get 10,000's of dollars fairly easy.

I was at DFW this morning and didn't see Peter Max; I think it was already gone. I saw HP's Arizona paint scheme and originally thought it was Peter Max, but of course it wasn't.

Must have cost them some money on the tokyo end as full fare passengers would have jumped ship to another carrier.
What kind of scheduling ripple effect would that 18 hour delay cause?

Why didn't she just return to IAH? According to FlightView, she took off at 6:43 AM. Any idea what the NRT-IAH flight that was expecting PeterMax is doing?

Um, what are you talking about?
Peter Max designed the paint theme on the CO 777 aircraft, he is a painter. He wasn't on that flight or has any connection with the trouble.
It's CO.
