I read in another thread about a month ago that WestJet's -800s are being delivered with the PTV systems already installed. However, yesterday at YYZ I had a fairly close view of 2 of them taxiing out for take off, one behind the other (C-GJWS and C-GKWG, Fin 602 and 601), and could not see the bulges for the satellite antennas that are so prominent on the -700s. Do these planes actually have satellite TV?

PTV doesn't necessarily mean satellite TV. In fact, most aircraft with PTV systems simply use pre-recorded video for movies, TV shows, etc.

"Lose" is not spelled with two o's!!!!

That's true, but in WS's case I think it does mean Satellite TV.

Olympus69...
WestJet 738's tail numbers are not 602, or 601 but rather 801,802,803, and tail 805 being delivered this last friday. The 600 block of tail numbers are reserved for yet to be delivered 737-600s.

Live Satellite TV has not been certified by TC, or the FAA on the 737-800.
So no WestJet 737-800s will come from Boeing with the Live TV. In Fact there certification process has allready been attempted with tail 801 a few months back, but the aircraft failed its certification. Rumors are the earliest WestJet will try again is after the busy summer rush.
