I was wondering if ZW has any sort of contractual stipulations limiting their at risk flying of aircraft? For instance, when the United Express contracts are up, will they have the options of operating in house routes (with the 146s) with no affiliate carrier contract? Thanks for any info!!!

I don't really know the answer to the question since I am not in management, but as I understand it, management tried to find other homes for our 146 fleet but the bottom line is its just too expensive an airplane to operate anymore, so no one was interested. Since it doesn't make economic sense for ZW to fly the 146's on their own, we are going to retire the 146 fleet and have all current 146 pilots, which are the most senior pilots at ZW I might add, some with 25-30 years seniority, fly the CRJ instead, provided they aren't retiring, and I will add we have had a lot of 146 guys retire in recent months.

Interesting, thanks for the response, it appears you actually know some about ZW...Typically not many people on this site have knowledge of ZW, thanks for that info. This leads me into some more questions. How expensive is the air plow as I've heard it be called to operate? IN addition, what is the pay scale for ZW pilots? I've heard rumors that its actually a very well paying job for regional pilots planning to stay there, is this true? Thanks for any information!
