Actually, they have not flown LAX-HKG in the past few years. Their current longest route is ORD-HKG, as they have stopped flying LAX-MEL non-stop. Additionally, LAX-SYD is less than 7500 miles (barely) and SFO-HKG is less than 7000 miles.

QF flies more of these longer routes with 744s than UA does.
