Given the fact that oil prices are rising dramatically, because of high demand, and with no foreseeable reduction in oil prices in the distant future, I think the airline industry might face difficult problems in regard to frequency on many routes. Is it possible that airlines, because of fuel prices, may have to give up their smaller planes, and go with "small flying cities", like the A380 or the 747ADV, in the hope to save on costs?
What do you guys think about this?

I think people who demand higher frequencies are willing to pay more for their tickets to keep their schedule flexible... and there is always another airline that would be willing to serve that market if other carriers do not.
Also, B787 style point-point reduces the number of smaller/narrowbodies aircraft given that it reduces number of connecting pax.
