Have any of you heard anything new about the whereabouts of this plane or what happened to it and the American flight engineer who disappeared with it?

The last thing I read was about this was an article in late 2004 which basically restated the fact that nobody knows what happened to the plane:

http://www.sptimes.com/2004/10/24/Wo...nation/Out_of_Africa__into_t.shtml

There were a bunch of rumors of it showing up in Lebanon and elsewhere with a changed registration, but as far as I know nothing came of these leads.

So, does anyone know anything else?

Nothing, many thought it was the crashed one in Togo (myself included), but it seem like it was
another plane...

I remmeebr the threads having to do with this and almost forgot all about it.
Alesandro is right. It was thought that the aircraft crashed of the coast of West Africa after being re-registered in Guinea and operated by Union des Transports Africains.

A bit more detail:

From what I can remember, the whole episode turned out to be a business dispute gone awry, and not anything terrorist related as feared by the U.S. Govt.

All very mysterious.

The missing one is ex-N844AA.

The crashed one is ex-N862AA.

Pretty confusing but this is clear?
