Attn. FLL Spotters & Photographers:

As of Tuesday (6/28), FLL's new parking facility inside the Cypress Garage is open to the general public. Access is through the Hibiscus Garage's top floor, via the "Long-Term Parking" signs for Terminal 1. I personally took a scouting trip there on my way to work, and I can say that the view is GREAT!

Happy spotting!

Are you saying it's free to park there now?

free...for the first 20 minutes Big grin

Sad thing is this will not help the parking situation as FLL is growing so fast that they would need another garage at least to satisify parking needs.

No, but sorry if I gave you that impression. I'm saying that the Cypress Garage is now available for public long-term parking, after having just finished construction of the upper floors. The lower floors, of course, have already been open for a few months, and they serve as the Rental Car Facility.

Cheers!

The Cypress Garage will get rid of the Red Dot Lot, which is a godsend in and of itself. It will also make the Tower Lot unecessary, and that will be going over to the Jet Center over the next months.

No, FLL will be ok in the near term with the addition of the Cypress if the airport nixes plans to not convert Park n Save over to the employee lot.

Of course, the holidays will bring increased volume - but that is what the overflow Holiday and Brown Lots are for.

Many people like the Red Dot, Tower, and Park and save lots...I enjoy the tower lot, being near the tower...and its $6/day. Also, something is wrong...the Cypress and Hibiscus garages are for T1...Palm is for T2, T3, and T4?

When I fly through FLL - I usually park in the Park 'n Save or Tower lots, although I am starting to lean more and more towards flying out of PBI. FLL is getting to be too much of a pain almost as MIA used to be back in the day.

No problem I was a little confused from the start since I thought all parts of the garage were now open for business.

If we are talking about the same Park n Save that has already turned into the employee lot.

Actually, only about 1/2 of the Park n Save lot was converted into the Employee Lot (Employee Lot 2 actually). There are still about 1000 spaces left in Park n Save.

Of all the FLL lots, Red Dot is - by far - the most problematic and the one that generates the most customer complaints.

There is a tram that travels throughout the lower levels of the garages and, of course, airports buses as well that connects everything together.

My complaint about the tram is that it doesn't run enough. We tried to ride it, but there were no trams to be seen, so we walked in the rain. Plus if you have a lot of bags, its not easy to use.

There are a max of two trams on duty. During the evening rush, it isn't enough...but for the rest of the day, its fine.

There are also one or two terminal loop buses, depending on the time of day.

Why do you have to walk in the rain? If you park in the terminals, the only time you are exposed to the elements is if you have to park on the top floor of any one of the three garages there. If you have to walk from, say, T4 to T1.....you just go to ground level and you are protected by the elevated roadway.

As an aside, the Red Dot should be permanently closed sometime soon after the 4th of July weekend.
