The priority for the reconfiguration of AF's fleet is given to the A343/A332/B744 because they go from a P/J/Y config to a J/Y config.
The B773ER are already configured with the new seats.
The B772ER will follow... but will be reconfigured with even newer seats, the one that will fitted in the A380.
The reconfiguration of the B772ER should start during 2006.

3 B744 (F-GITH/I/J) have PTV's in Y (out of a fleet of 16 a/c).
Most of the B744 will be retrofitted by the end of this year... except the 3 or 4 ex-Combi that are going to be converted into all Freighters.
But even the retrofitted B744 don't have PTVs in Y on the main deck.
Only Y on the upper has PTVs, as this cabin is used as "Alizée" (Premium Economy) on the flights to the Leisure/Carribean/Indian Ocean destinations.
and very soon, the B744 will fly only to those destinations.

The 2 744 used on GIG-CDG has now PTV's in Y and they are both with the new NEV configuration. As only 3 of 16 are changed up to this moment, GIG is probably one of the best 744 markets.
For more info see www.airfrance.com.br
The 772 used on GRU route will be ready with the new 3 class configuration on aug/sep 2005.

Quoting Flpuck6 (Reply 5): Not so sure about that LipeGIG ... as FLYSSC said, and I will confirm, the reconfiguration of the 777-200ER fleet will not start until 2006.
Hi Flpuck6
That's the specific news in portuguese and english from Air France Brazil website:
English:
On SEPTEMBER, the B777 from Air France which flies daily route Sao Paulo-Paris-Sao Paulo will have the NEV too. Sao Paulo is one of the 30 long distance flights from the freench company in the world that offers the new L'Espace Premiere (First Class) as New York and Tokyo.
And as i said, GIG is the first destination in the Americas (probably one of the first three in the world) to get the new NEV and GRU will be probably the first or the second to get the renovated B777.
That's news from an Air France Web Site. Not news from third party. How do i can say it's not correct ? And also, the 747-400 used on GIG nowadays is really a NEV aircraft. They cannot announce a service with some aircraft on september if only available in 2006.

Felipe

LipeGIG,
Do they mention somewhere which type of B777 AF will send ?
Maybe the B773ER will fly to GRU in september... in that case it would make sense they compare the service to JFK and NRT as all the B773ER are fitted with the NEV seats...
Because I never heard the B772ER will already be fitted with NEV seats in september...
Moreover, I was told that the B772ER will be reconfigured with even newer NEVseats, the same that will equip the A380... That's also why the reconfiguration of the B772ER fleet has not started yet. But also maybe they changed their mind... one never knows with AF !

Thank you for info and pix, FlySSC. They look great. I've been wanting to fly AF for a long time now, but since they don't fly to Western Canada I would have to fly AC to YUL or YYZ and take AF to CDG from there, which can be rather expensive. Will do it one of these days. Meanwhile I keep hoping that AF will introduce a CDG-YVR route.

Hi FlySSC
The press release from Air France Brazil does not states the kind of 777 they will operate on GRU-CDG. But as they will provide a seasonal A332 service three times per week during nov-mar/06, i believe they will keep the 777-200ER service. But, they could receive more 773 and put this aircraft in the route. Let's see.

And they are great! Until AF introduced the NEV (or New Travel Concept - NTC), I used to think Delta's BusinessElite product was better than AF's. But with these new seats it's AF all the way! On European flights to and from ATL, I now try to take AF as much as possible, even if it means having to connect in CDG.
