DFW (Delta) Finally Getting Gids

Finally, after all of these years of hearing rumors and the Hub operation being circumcised by a chainsaw....DFW (Delta gates) will finally be getting the GID screens (plasma) like Atlanta and every other DL city.

DL tech is here this week to run the wires and plan the placements of these screens.

This will be a great addition to Delta's operation here in DFW....now If we can only get Song to fly in.

I'm assuming this is a mileage run? Or are you non-revving?

It could just be a protest against flying on the Stupid 80s?  Smile

Yes, this is a skyteam milage run. I was able to get this route for $129 total, and it allows me to ride the skylink around some.

I otherwise try to aviod AA and DFW due to my self-imposed boycott relating to the Wrong Ammendment.

Until the Wrong Ammendment is repealed, its OKC and Skyteam for me.

like Atlanta and every other DL city

Most cities don't have them.

Good for you for choosing Skyteam. I still fly Skyteam every week out of DFW - but of course, it has nothing to do with the Wright Amendment. I could care less about WN at DAL - I never fly them.  Wink I'm a big fan of DFW since I live 5 minutes away.

No, the DL monitors do a lot more than the UA monitors in ORD. The Monitors you refer to in ORD, (the only other city they are used in to my knowledge is SFO), simply provide information on the destination, flight number and all the good stuff you see at most airlines gate podiums. The Delta Monitors are overhead at the gate, (The flight numbers are usually displayed on an led sign at the podium) and they display information, about who is on the standby list, who is eligible for an upgrade, who has been cleared on the standby list, etc. Also what stage in the boarding process they are, and all sorts of other good stuff. I haven't flown delta much lately, but I have seen them in BOS, even before moving to terminal A, CVG, LAX, and ORD, and I would bet money they have them in ATL and SLC as well. I personally think the boarding process is too automated and I am more comfortable with a human voice on the pa system as it seems like automation can cause more problems than it solves.

Somewhat, they scroll through lots of information, standby lists, food options, weather, etc. I think they provide a lot more information than UA's, but UA's are awesome too. No matter what airline, they are VERY nice to have.
