I noticed the last 2 times I've been to Cancun (March 21st-29th and June 1st-8th of this year) that it appears they've cleared out more trees to the south (i.e. opposite side of terminal) of runway 12-30. Does anyone know if there are plans to buld a 2nd runway? It seems to me like a good idea, with the inboard being for departures, and the outboard for arrivals, because during peak times at CUN, it seems like one can wait about 25-30 minutes at the end of 12 (usually) for arriving planes, and other departing traffic. And when there isn't much traffic inbound, both runways could be used for departures (for example flights to the US go off of runway 12 L with a left turn after departure, and flights going to DF, Merida, Havana, Cozumel etc... off of 12 R with a Right Turn or Straight Out departure. Also, in March, on American we flew left traffic to DFW (beautiful view of the zona hoteleria, had it not been overcast ) but in June I flew T9 flight 340/ Funjet nonstop to Austin, and we flew right traffic. No weather to speak of, actually the captain said there were some thunderstorms to the southwest ironically. Anybody know why?
Edit: I realize on any given day, they can direct you anywhere, but I've been to Cancun at least 10 times, and have always turned north going to the Mainland.
