Air Tahiti Nui Started JFK Service Today?

I was under the impression that Air Tahiti 3/4 (PPT-JFK-PPT) started service today but I can't seem to find it on the flight tracker. Was it pushed back?

They sure did operate today.
The first flight TN004 landed at 1534local, while TN003 departed just recently at 1803local. Flight time to paradise today 11:53

On a more serious note, it may be close but still within it's range. Long, thin routes is what the A340 was built for.

MTOW is 5800nm to 7400nm for that plane, still air.

They had a non-rev offer of $499 r/t positive space (air only, plus taxes), or airfare plus 7 nights hotel for $999. Dates were very specific (only 1 or 2 possible dates in each direction).
