2008 Olympic Trials In OMA=Bigger Planes?

as many of you have heard, the Swimming Trials for the 2008 Olympics Will be held in Omaha. Does this mean bigger planes will be coming to Eppley?

If so, can't wait!

I wouldn't count on it. The Huskers going to a bowl game would draw more traffic to the airport. Smile

I dont think, just for olympic trials, a widebody would fly in...

Bored seeing loads of 737's and CRJ's all the time? Go to Offutt, usually much more interesting spotting than OMA.

I wouldn't count on bigger planes coming into OMA because of swimming trials.

They draw about 7000 a day, but I would assume most of those are repeat and some will be local.

Still getting 5000 people into and out of Omaha in a couple days by air would take over 15 150 seat aircraft a day on top of the usual traffic.

I could see a few airlines scheduling a larger plane or two on top of normal frequency, and charging high fares.

How does an airline deal with full flights one direction, nearly empty the other, then the reverse of that 7 days later?

olympic trials is like the summer ritual in oma every year.....COLLEGE world series......dont see delta 764s flying in or nwa dc10s on approach....olympic trials will give everyone a chance to fill up a narrow body and make some cash...
