SR has recently signed a contract for a 777 overhaul facitlity at Zurich.
Why do they open a 777 overhaul facility when there are a whopping two 777s (Air Europe) in the whole Sair Fleet. They cant use it for their own aircraft and BA and AF respectively do their own maintenance. Who is going to use this?

From where do you have these news (source?). This is very interesting. I think the a/c overhaul business makes a lot of money and it is perhaps interesting for SRtechnics to have the B 777.

At the Lufthansa maintenance facility in Hamburg they also do the B777.

So it's not a question whether the airlines flies that aircraft, but rather done to get more customers.

Yes but Swissair has signed a contract with GE and Boeing for a 777 exclusive facility in Zurich. It's currently under construction.

I wonder where did you get this information?
I see the airport almost every day and I can tell you that there is no evidence of the facility you're talking about!!
I just want to tell you that with SR as major customer for SR-Technics and with a fleet of almost only Airbus,
wouldn't be a really smart choice !
I suggest you to verify your source, at the moment
we perform A-C & D checks for several Aircraft tipe
but not the 777!
