I've just recieved word that a good friend of mine has got through the Jetstar interview process and will be starting with them in the near future as an FA. This is just about perfect timing as, because as some of you know recently I've been pushing how much a better job I think the SQ girls do...regardless I know this guy will make a good FA as he really does care about service.
Anyway my quesiton is such. I prepared him for the interview, and for the purposes of staff travel allowences I am going to be "the domestic partner"..... and what I would like to know is what exactly jetstar offer their staff in this regard?
ID95 I'm guessing?
Can anybody shed some light? I am hoping to go to the USA a lot more as I am working on a major project over there, and if I could get myself on UA or NZ business class...or first class for a reasonable price I'd be very happy...or even QF business for that matter.

Forget the business class.
You must be an employee for 6 months to get travel benefits. The price is ID90 or ZED fares.
Every staff member gets a travel priority based on start date and position held.
As a new staff member for a subsidiary carrier you will be at the end of the boarding priority.
If you travel without the staff member, your priority is lower.
Business class entitlement is after 7 years service. Only Executives and Captains are eligible for First Class staff (leisure) international travel, and others on duty travel.
The entitlement on other carriers is for ECONOMY only. Not eligible for upgrades (may happen out of courtesy - rare becuase QANTAS does not upgrade other airline staff - QANTAS is very strict with staff travel - and the other airline staff will beat you!!)
Staff travel for leisure is precisely that - the employee agrees that the travel is NOT for business purposes and if the trip is found to be for business purposes, staff travel rights are removed.
So it is not an easy way to upgrades or "something for nothing"

J class domestic is available at the commencement of your staff travel benefits.
Are you sure about the onload priority? I am not sure for new staff but my friend who is ex-Impulse had is category lowered on the changeover to JQ but it went from the 'QF Cabin Crew' category to 'Airports Staff' category... Nothing about sudsidiary company mentioned.
JQ staff just lost Interline for 'Travel Companions' so it is far best to go for 'Domestic Partner' if you can.
