RG will introduce a new network on August 8th with some intersting additions. Looks like they will try to improve their market share, improving the plane utilization and reducing long routes and late evening departures from GIG and GRU, using the planes for Long routes as BVB, MCP, PVH, leaving more planes for early morning routes like VIX-CNF-BSB, VIX-CGH and others.

@ CNF
RG will resume service to VIX and BSB with 2 daily BSB-CNF-VIX. CNF-GIG will receive 733 instead of 735. Varig will code-share a early morning A319 JJ departure to GIG.

@ VIX
New service CGH-VIX with 2 daily flights. VIX-GIG will be increased in 1 daily flight. VIX-CNF-BSB service is back with 2 daily flights. VIX-GIG now with 733 (instead of 735)

@ CPQ
New RG daily service to BSB non stop. More 1 frequency to GIG. Lost service non stop to FOR.

@ GIG
1 additional daily flight to VIX
1 additional daily to BSB thru CPQ.
CNF-GIG upgraded from 735 to 733.
VIX-GIG upgraded from 735 to 733.

Increase service to MAO with one flight GIG-REC-FOR-BEL-MAO.
RG2104 GIG-POA upgraded from 735 to 733.

GIG-GRU-JFK back with 772.
Gets one weekly GIG-VVI thru GRU
Lost one GIG-GRU-BOG weekly service
New Service (RG2250) GIG-BEL-MCP

@ GRU

Two flights GRU-SSA downgraded (734 to 735).
Lost one frequency (sat) GRU-LIS
EZE:RG8648 downgraded from M11 to 738,RG8630 from 752 to 734.
COR: No more daily service to COR (738).
Gets additional leg to MCP on GRU-GIG-BEL-MCP (RG2250)
In code share with JJ back to CGR and CGB with one daily flight.

@SSA (Int'l)
Gets one 763 weekly service to LIS on saturday

Good to see RG optimizing their ops. Interesting to see they are also providing some competition to TAP out of REC/SSA to LIS!

PPVRA,

I have heard from a top RG executive that probably RG will drop LIS operations with the 772 because the PP-VRE/VRF are both bad configured (the 772's with large biz/first class) and post a USD 1 mm monthly loss. Both aircraft will be prepared to flight JFK or other top biz routes.

But you are perfect, RG is trying to optimize and its a way to get back some market share on domestic ops.

RG network will be changed three or four times during the next 6 months, and they probably get into a better and more profitable network. Let's see as i truly believe RG can be the airline they were in the past.

Rgds,
Felipe

Felipe,

I have flown on VRE last year when it was assigned to GIG-GRU-JFK, the business class is huge, but the plane was awful, really terrible.
I was flying business class and it was a mess, my first assigned seat was broken, electrics and hydraulics commands. Then, after complaining a lot, I was reassigned to another seat, which was working properly at this time.
However, 30 minutes after take off from JFK all the entertainment system from business and first classes went inoperative, and the F/As distributed to some passengers the portables VCRs and DVDs, which had to be returned right after the end of the movie in order to allow another passenger to use it.
I was expecting to fly on VRA or VRB, but I was not lucky enough.
By the way, the outbound flight GIG-GRU-JFK was on an MD-11, and the flight was great, my biz class seat and the entertainment system were working properly. Don’t even dare to ask me, because I do not know why GRU-JFK was on an MD-11 and the inbound flight JFK-GRU was on a B777.

Take care,

Jose Carlos

Hey guys!

Well.. at least RG wants to survive, wants to live! GO RG!

One specific question
On the past days, RG has dropped GRU-ASU-COR due to "lack" of equipment and is now flying ASU-GRU with PZ's assistance and codesharing.

Is this...

Quoting LipeGIG (Thread starter):
@ GRU
Lost 1 frequency GRU-MAO.

Due to the above? I believe the full routing was: MAO-GRU-ASU-COR, right?
Anybody can correct or confirm me?

As for EZE losing the MD-11s, is this seasonal? (it IS a big bummer) And are we NOT going to see any RG MD-11s at all here!?

Jose,

A lack of lucky! Nowadays PP-VRB is on GIG-FRA service with another MD11 since the GRU-JFK-GRU (with daily light JFK-GRU) is being operated with one 772 (PP-VRC and VRD on GRU-FRA, VRE/F on LIS/MEX, VRI is parked on SSA waiting for a new PW engine, probably GRU-JFK is operated with PP-VRJ only. PP-VRA is on CEFAN on GIG for check but i don't know if it's C or D)
One day i get the PP-VRB to a GIG-GRU-JFK flight and everything is just perfect. I take a biz seat, and everything is fine during all the fligt (VRA and VRB are the only received directly from Boeing). Some friends took some flights to FRA on VRI/VRJ and said they seems to be OK too. The main problems is with VRD/VRE and VRF.
VRE and VRF has a kind of setting that probably were used on top routes like JFK-LHR or JFK-CDG where huge biz class are appreciated.
As far as i know, for MEX they upgrade several smiles gold/diamond from Coach Class to Biz (without Biz service). Probably do the same for LIS and thats why this route is a financial trouble.

Sometimes RG make this kind of procedure (a 777 + M11 on the same route)

Regards & Take care too
Felipe

Hi Gaston,

I have some info that RG must return soonest 2 MD-11 due to the end of the leasing agreement, and both planes are to be converted into cargo for other operators (Under the law, RG couldn't extend/postpone an end-of-agreement). One from EZE, other from LHR or MIA (which will probably receive the 777-200 from LIS). I must check this and confirm very soon.

You're right is the MAO-GRU-ASU-COR.
COR will be droped due to the lack of aircraft as the 738 will be runing GRU-EZE replacing the M11. For ASU RG will offer code-share with TAM Mercosur.

RG is also trying to improve GIG-EZE service (changing the 734 with a 752 or adding a 3x week new flight) as the demand keeps very strong for this route, but the problem is the lack of (good) equipment.

Felipe

Hi Lipe!

Thanks for the info.
It's sad to see those 11s go  Sad. I would have wanted them to stay. EZE in the past few years went from 5 MD11s a day to 1 or 2. Now.. we'll see what goes on.

Yes, very sad Gastón
And the demand for MD-11F (cargo) are really strong nowadays, probably RG will not in condition to renew the lease agreements they have and in 2 or 3 years probably we won't see more this bird on RG fleet.
