was looking at cabin view pics on the photo search. corsair really knows how to pack them in on 743s. anyone know who flies the highest density (i'm assuming all econ, obviously) 747s? i'm thinking it may be corsair or a japanese domestic carrier.

It's used on Japanese domestic flights by ANA and JAL. They're 747-XXXD models. The -400 series don't have the winglets as they're not needed for the short Osaka-Tokyo runs.

My airline used to operate a couple of 747-100s in passenger charter (single class) service with 490 seats.

Actually, it is to save weight, as they don't make up for it on the 744 until the flight gets longer.

Actually, only the 747-400D has a D at the end. The 747-100 based aircraft is called the 747SR

With close to 600 pax on 74X plus luggage does weight become an issue?

I flew Corsair, packed in a 520+ pax 747 (It was more than 10 years ago, it was probably a -200), for a quick ride ORY to AJA (Ajaccio - Corsica Island).

Jacques Maillot, Nouvelles frontieres travel agency owner, no longer in charge, when Airbus was designing the A380 stated that he could imagine he would pack a 1,000 pax in an A380, 800 for sure.

NW had 2 high-density configurations, but now we're down to one. The Beach Market 742's are confirgured at 430, 30F/400Y. We used to have a charter configured aircraft. It was seating 446, 30F/416Y. Since our 742 fleet has dwindled down to 6 aircraft to support the LAX-NRT, NRT-SPN, GUM routes.
