CO From EWR To Liberia

CO just released information about starting a Sat. only service from Newark to Liberia, Costa Rica to compliment its daily service from IAH. Service will begin on DEC 17th and will utilize a 73G.

EWR-LIB
8:45 am-1:00 pm

LIB-EWR
1:50 pm-7:57 pm

Interesting, yet another one time per week route from CO (following EWR-Curacao, LGA-Aruba and IAH-Bonaire).......flights such as these use aircraft that would otherwise sit idle over the weekend due to reduced business demand and are appealing to vacationers, and the yeilds in general are not too bad (certainly better than offering an additional turn to MCO).

CO seems to be taking a page from the US Airways book; US opened up service to lots of carib destinations a couple of years ago on a weekend only basis.

Liberia, Costa Rica sounds a lot more logical.

Flying there saves nearly a day's travel to the eco-areas as opposed to flying into SJO.
