I am just curious what most people feel about the wright amendment.

I am getting tired of Southwest excuse that it wants to lower airfares. I understand that wright is wrong but they should just say they want it appealed and stop using the excuse that it is repealing wright for low fares. If that truly was there reason and they really only wanted to offer the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex lower fares then they would move to DFW. I agree that the amendment is anti-competitive and should be repealed. On a personal note I dont care if southwest offers non stop service out of love or dfw I will never fly on them again.

You aren't allowed to start a W.A. thread without an obscure article or piece of information mildly related to the situation.

I think thats the status quo.

The are decent arguments for and against the Wright Ameendment. When initially passed it was obviously needed to induce the fianncial community to buy DFW Bonds. Is it fair now to those bondholders to put the main tenant of DFW in jeopoardy by changing the rules-. On the other hand 25 years is a long time-and we gone more to a free market since then

But the bill is probably DOA in the Seante-Nothing can be done in the Senate without either unanimous consent or a cloture vote-I'm guessing that at least three or four senators will "pink slip" or stop the bill and that Seantor Frist won't want to use his political capital to call for cloture.

Reading the active WA threads, you’ll get an array of dialoge ranging from far-fetched pontifications to reality from lawyers, consultants, pilots, SWA employees, the AMR camp, other airline employees, pundits, etc, and oh yea, the traveling public…

If one uses the Search feature, a whole array of related threads will no doubt, sprout up.

Just enter WN, AA, DFW, DAL, or Wright and watch the results.
